@marisa@mastodon.scot first of all, yes. Libraries are awesome.
Personally, I think the right hates libraries because it assists people to become educated. An educated voter base doesn't tend to vote conservative. And the moneyed class loses a bit of their edge if it can't give their offspringing a head start with a decent education.
