@tully fun. I wish I could join but afaik it's very transphobic and a lot of users have *really* bad takes about various things.

@tully okay, first of all, English is a creole developed through contact between German and French speakers

@tully@cathode.church I feel like calling them shamans is a bit too generous.

@mespique to me it's because it perfectly illustrates the disconnect between the supposed pillars of our modern life, and the historical commonalities of societal behaviour.

@tully I used to live in a european city with a church in the center, of course. The Church had a noticeable asymmetry: obviously the intent was to finish both towards but people just stopped believing in God or like labor was allocated by the markets instead of the Church or what-have-you, and it just never got finished. Sometimes they projected light shows on the side of the building. I think about how people essentially volunteered their time and energy and money for hundreds of years on this thing which just suddenly stopped making sense to them, and I often wonder what things we venerate with our time and energy today that our descendants will be dumbfounded by when they even bother to think about it.

@ppxl @tully then again the trend of having god being interesting or not mostly relies on white men's feelings too ๐

@tully@cathode.church Wait, it's an evil trait to not part with Tumblr? I get my dislike of them, and some of that is stuff I could point to and say, "I think this is why you should leave," but I think most folk probably haven't seen that stuff.

@tully@cathode.church I got banned by tumblr admins for a petty reason stifling my freedom of speech and with age verification its made it impossible for me to make a fake account again so I didn't go back, fuck'm, the owner of tumblr is a fascist and I hope tumblr keeps running at a loss.

@tully@cathode.church Now I want a dystopian setting with a faction that is to economists what the Adeptus Mechanicus are to tech people
