@phillmv for what it's worth, your words weren't wasted on me - thank you so much for your courage in writing this.

@phillmv i'm so sorry, I felt much the same when I left the rails core team 3.5 years ago. for what it's worth, your writing really affected me and it accurately captured much of what I have been going through too. thank you

@phillmv the words and time you put into things sums up my feelings in such a better way than I could myself when I tried. big thank you for writing it, made me not feel so alone in my thoughts.

@phillmv I think you laid out your case pretty clearly. If someone reads it and concludes they are ultimately fine on team Hamburger Helper, well, that’s still useful info for the rest of us in the Rails community about how to move forward.

@phillmv I hadn't seen your essay, but a colleague of mine forwarded it to me. I've been following the RubyGems saga at the border, having not been a Ruby user, and I felt the sheer grief and anger through the screen. The innocent beginnings, and the trend towards seemingly impossible-to-escape colonization of perceived safe communities, feel like universal touchpoints. Your words weren't wasted on me. Please don't stop writing about this stuff if you think people aren't listening. It needs to be said, especially as fascism and hate spread. Thank you for this essay. I'll pass it along.

@phillmv I'll join the chorus in saying that this is a beautiful piece. For my money, it was still worth the time. There's a lot that's dark in the world right now, but writing like this, and people like you, give me hope. I'm sorry it's not changing things the way it should, but thank you.

@phillmv they might look around and not feel that way, but they aren’t paying attention to everyone who’s tuned out and moved on

@phillmv you words may have been wasted on them, but not to many of us. Your efforts are appreciated- I need to find similar words and post them.

@phillmv your words were not wasted in any way, at least from my perspective

@phillmv I know it doesn't change anything, but your post is the best piece I've read about the entire situation. It also really captured the optimism in the web development space back then, which I think is important for the younger people that couldn't experience it.
