@mmeier@social.mei-home.net I just added a disk swap partition on this--fedora just skips disk swap and tries to use zram by default. With 8gb ram and zram enabled if I used much beyond a terminal and Firefox I'd get occasional OOMKills. Swapping to zswap + 8gb nvme backed swap is a drastic difference and makes me thing I can get many more years out of this. I might even bump the swap disk size slightly at some point.

    @rachel That's not too bad, I'd have thought that 8GB is hard on the border of being useful these days. I'm mostly hovering around 7GB on my current machine. But with an NVMe, using larger amounts of swap isn't as painful as it once was.

    @mmeier@social.mei-home.net @rachel@transitory.social Fedora's decision to use zram only is one of the worst decisions they have ever made. It's honestly baffling. I've never had Firefox OOM before that.
