I suspect another reason why the valley managerial class is so into LLMs is that unlike the human programmers there is no risk that the "AI" will raise any concerns, drag their feet, or outright refuse to implement anything that might in some ways be unethical or illegal. Under that light it's a "so what if it costs more and won't always do the right thing, it not saying no to my most sick wants is a feature worth paying for"
