There are people who think that #DnD DMs who want to inflict their lore on players should stop doing that, and they have a good point and I partially agree. I'm not talking to those people, here.
So, my sisters and brothers of #DnD DMs who like to lore dump. I see you. And I ask: why is the legend lore spell so expensive? It is a gift to us as DMs! It's the players literally asking for a lore dump, which is what we want to do anyway! Why should it require expensive components? Cast it every day!

@sil — nothing says you can’t make it less expensive to cast!

@sil I always like adding lore texture for players to engage with - old images or tapestries illustrating events of the past, an NPC with a living metal tattoo that has meaning, crumbling architecture from a past wizard, things that a player can dig into if they’re interested but otherwise just make the world feel real. I’m all for cutting the cost for something like Legend Lore - giving players an easy option for exposition seems like a good thing to me!
