@likelyjanlukas If by 'portable' you mean the kind of heat pump device with one or two air hoses connecting to the outside (usually via a window,) I think you will find they are considerably more energy-efficient than the the traditional 'window A/C' (which is an earlier heat pump technology.) We recently donated ours after moving to a place with heat pump heating/cooling. Our first one was such a life-improving change, we had to make sure our current unit would help someone.

@likelyjanlukas I also have some other lotek methods for cooling - some of which you probably cannot do due to rules. Ask if you think any might help.

@Amgine Yes, that's the portable type I have, also donated to me by someone who no longer needed it, and I am grateful for it! ❤️ Perhaps newer models are more energy efficient but from what I could see on product labelling, the in-window ones appear to be much better and may be able to cool a room. My portable one essentially cools a bubble which is a lifesaver but also means I still am not physically very functional anywhere beyond that bubble due to heat. 😢
