I need to stop saying incorrect things like "translation is a solved problem."
It's frustrating because the propaganda is so hot and heavy but I just asked two translate apps for a simple two-character translation and got two different and wrong answers, and of course neither one included any connotation or usage context.
(The dictionary app I have did both, along with sample sentences making it clear how wrong-footed the auto translation was.)

(The phrase in question was the Japanese phrase 無心, which I learned through aikido, and which one app translated as "heartless" (a misdiagnosis based on thinking it was Mandarin and also translating each character separately) or "innocence", which while not wrong was immaterial, like translating something as a "Savings and Loan River's Edge")
