Stupid Android. I wanted to check if my dinner had to rest in the fridge before putting it in the oven. No wifi. Huh, that's weird. Tried different things, everything pointing towards something being broken between my phone and my server (which holds my recipes). Apart from that, I couldn't get a clear picture of where the problem was. Ended up cooking something else. When the sun started going down and it got too cold to be outside, I went in to turn on my pc and started checking everything. I can ping my phone. I can ping my server. My server can ping my phone. Everything related to looking up the recipe works. Except my phone still can neither ping nor connect to my server, even though it responds to pings from the server. My internet connection, on the other hand, is down. Too late to do anything about today, but I could have called my ISP hours ago, when the technicians were still at work - if my bloody phone had not insisted that the problem is between my phone and my server, which has no relation whatsoever to my internet connection, and thus not something I would call my ISP for in the first place. (No, I do not use my internet router for wifi, before someone starts arguing that the two are the same, and besides, even the router can ping my phone, so even if I did use it for wifi, it should still work).
