Thanks to @kekskurse, the project has evolved from an idea into hacky software. All you need to do is install @owntracks and configure the correct server. You can then log in to the custom server software via the web GUI. After that, you can select people with whom to share your location, but more importantly, you can see which hexagons you have already visited. If you zoom in, the hexagons become smaller and more detailed. If there is interest, @kekskurse might open source it. The Idea: https://hachyderm.io/@sabrinkmann/116342779601000625
