Astounding to meet Linux People who only recently got into open source and think that trying to convince, like, Spotify or Discord or some other "hip" not-yet-totally-evil but definitely capitalist company to embrace and support open protocols is a good use of their energy.
Oh, to be a sweet summer child who can still believe that any technology touched by venture capital is anything besides a trap. To know nothing of Spotify or Discord's history and show up on the scene with Ideas 🙏

@wilbr I know this makes me sound like a little bit of a jerk and it's not like I actually tell people this but - when people who recently-ish got into open source and then go "I've been using Linux forever! Like since 2010 when nobody used it". Yeah ok

@wilbr Even when I was young and innocent I somehow knew this would never happen. And it sucks that we literally *cannot* make any sort of foss competitor simply because no media company is going to allow their content on an unlocked platform. I would love something that could intelligently jump from self-hosted music to Spotify/tidal/whatever if something I want isn't in my library.
