@julianlawson there’s definitely a balance to be struck between the safety/reliability of more expensive devices, and cheap imports. I have a load of Phillips Hue bulbs that have been going for 10+ years, but integration with them is getting and harder and they’re hideously expensive. Ikea bulbs are a lot cheaper, but I’ve recently a load fail after 8 years. Universal advice also applies: buy stuff that’s directly accessible/controlable if possible. Avoid cloud services that can be withdrawn.
