@evan @fediversereport @laurenshof I think the context of the piece is highlighting the difference between a dumb pipe protocol plumbing server, and a server/instance that represents community or governance or the thing that kinda wants to be an actor. That's how I took it, anyway.

Here's what he said, in context: "For the fediverse, resilience comes from the fact that there are tens of thousands of servers all interoperable with each other.
