@Andii @pluralistic You can also orient fixed placement solar panels so that you're not optimizing for overall generation throughout the day, but for creating power early and late in the day. There's no reason you couldn't overbuild capacity such that you'd have a surplus of electricity for a much longer span of time throughout the day. Tie that in with grid storage systems of various types and you've got a recipe for an overall system with very little need for oil and gas-based generation.

    @Andii @pluralistic You sometimes see this sort of arrangement with people building off-grid cabins and the like. They'll have multiple arrays of solar panels oriented differently feeding into their battery banks, so that their banks begin recharging as early in the day as possible after their battery banks have gotten low from running their heat pumps, refrigerators, hot water heaters, etc. overnight.
