@sounddrill @blinry @postmarketOS due to some bugs that i can't even reproduce(*) now, for msm8953 there's a file in /etc/profile.d that sets the GSK_RENDERER=cairo env variable, you can remove it. (*) except for occasional text glitches. HOWEVER gtk gl with a5xx gpus is not very fast either, depending heavily on the scene it's rendering. I've spent some time debugging that with the gtk renderer devs, the overhead from switching draw pipelines on a5xx is atrocious for some reason. e.g. the scrolling emoji torture test in gtk4-demo renders at 4fps on an a506, but 40fps (10x better!!) on an a610.
