I work in a super chaotic way, but one which (it turns out) suits the kernel really rather well: I dive in the deep end where I understand nothing. Then I start just trying to do stuff/understand stuff even so and let my mind kind of hold vague notions and go through feel... Like bumping around in a room with the light off and figuring out where the furniture is by walking into it... Sometimes you turn on the light and see a broader picture, but parts are usually missing. Sometimes really fundamental parts... It's worked really well for me generally, I can't really explain it but I just have a good 'feel' for doing the work. But it means I have had really big fundamental holes in my understanding all over the place, stuff you'd be surprised by... Like most people go somewhere along a certain set of roads, and I've gone through the sewers, climbed onto a roof, jumped through a window then paraglided in :) Am consciously trying to MAKE MYSELF fill in these holes now.

@ljs@mastodonapp.uk a favorite maladaptive behavior of many ADHD people is that they place things in ”strange” places and forget it. This is usually the result of an adapted behavior to stay on task. They tend to bring one item with them (as a marker) to not forget what they were up to. Like a screwdriver or such. But when they then need a hand free, they put it down to deal with. And by the time they are back on task the ”marker” is lost. And the last time they used it was on the task. Thus frustrations.
