Complaints about Nu Trek 🙄
I resumed Strange New Worlds at season 3. There was a time when I thought I could like this one, but it's clear that they aren't making it for me. It's an action comedy & the only thing they're throwing my way is infantile fan service. I miss philosophical sci-fi wrapped in the comfort of competence. So much!
Nothing is satisfying because nothing makes any sense; no effort is made. It's as if the current Trek creators were so annoyed by technobabble+

Nu Trek complaints re: ST:SNW S3 +that they decided to replace it with characters who don't claim to know anything. In the old shows we were meant to suspend our disbelief & trust that the characters understood what they were saying. Now it's all 2020s slang exclamations. This complaint isn't just for Star Trek. Action fantasy comedies with swearing, casual characters are everywhere. Nothing against swearing but I miss thought. Thoughtful sci-fi is almost nonexistent. 2/2
