@aj In the USA, the tax burden shifted from high earners to the working class with the passage of the Revenue Act of 1964. That's when the average annual rate of inflation in the USA jumped from negligible to consistently about 4%. I believe it's because rich people started hoarding money, taking it out of circulation.
