Seeing the entire US economy being reorganized in a WW2 magnitude of mobilization to build a surveillance state 100x more invasive than the Chinese system we've been hearing about for years is literally making me depressed. It feels like all the crises are about to culminate in things getting really really bad and the government's plan is just brute force suppression through making people afraid to talk freely without their conversations being logged and analyzed for dissent.

I really don't feel like the backlash against things like OS level age verification and everything you ever say being fed to Palontir is even 1% what it should be. Everyone got so up in arms about SOPA 15 years ago and now people look at you like you're crazy if you care about massive surveillance data centers being opened in every city in America. People are more mad about gas being an extra dollar per gallon than the government building the largest anti-free thought machine ever
