@NinjaNia I care for an elderly relative. From there: I get that you haven't had recently the sort of relationship you want with her. And, as I see it, one of the things that changes when a parent/person has dementia is what sort of relationship is called for. And you not ignoring her, now is big. As is preparing for a likely future. You've got big elements of a fitting relationship happening. If you're counting wins then I suggest chalk these up.

    @skua It is all confusing emotionally. I'm trying to figure out how I can take care of her, my husband who is possibly going to need care soon, and save some for my disabled self. But kind words like yours do help, so thank you.
