Next year, #macos will stop supporting #rosetta, which is the x86 compatibility layer. There was an effort 5 years ago to reverse engineer Rosetta 2: https://ffri.github.io/ProjectChampollion/part1/ However this seems to have stopped. It's a shame Apple doesn't open source this project, as it could be useful for a lot of other projects. JIT translation of x86 to ARM is just very useful for a lot of emulation projects.
