@ogi @brianokken @tacaswell @mpirnat it's not at all uncommon in accelerator physics. there's an awful lot of stuff that is perfectly reasonable to work out on a calculator
and calculators have the virtue of being very reliable and not exposing the user to a lot of faff on a regular basis (something PCs have yet to rise to)
