From the an-audiophile-and-his-money-are-soon-parted department: "Gold has a higher atomic number, so there are more electrons available to carry the sound signal, without putting undue stress on the energy source. otherwise you could experience subtle dropouts while your headphones wait to source additional electrons from the power source. Obviously this only applies when the cables themselves have been broken in for at least 3-4 days at moderate volume. At least a week for higher-impedance speakers."

    @penryu the mythology audiophiles tell themselves is wild. Like, where do these concepts even come from? I feel like one could write a rather compelling psychological (or sociology?) masters thesis on the mythology of audiophiles.
