As someone who's very into collective solutions on most levels of living and society, I have to say that people with their own house/apartment have better incentives for maintenance. And I like maintenance. Anyways, that translates quite well for the federated internet, no? No one ever cleans up their Gmail account... Big Tech gives us no incentive to do maintenance of our data etc. But once we're responsible for servers running out of storage space, we start to see the consequences.
