California’s “primary” is actually the general election. The whole thing is so stupid and broken. But in June, that’s the only time someone random can run. Anyone can vote for anybody. That’s a general election. And then in November, you can only vote for the top two. Nobody else can run. How can that be called the general election? Come on! June is the general election, November is a mandatory run off. (It’s held even if someone gets >50% in June). If two democrats win in June then in November…. It’s like a primary. Or, one could drop out and just hand it to the other? Do we have no vote in November? Does the 3rd place finisher in June then get promoted suddenly to participate in November? Did the people who wrote this law…. think about things???
