the best retro handheld is the one you already have
its not as fancy as the thor but I gotta admit I'm pretty dang happy with my setup!
- moto 5G stylus 2024, recent enough to be compatible with some x86 emulators so I can play low-end steam games on this!
- modded ps4 controller with a usb-type-c kit from extremerate, as well as gold sticks and buttons
- a ps4 phone clip from amazon
- a magnetic popsocket! I attached a magnetic mount point to the back of the controller so I can take the popsocket off the phone and put it there instead to act as a sort of 'third leg'.
- Cocoon FE for when I want to feel fancy (shown here, free android app that makes your home screen look like a 3DS menu)
- stickers!!!!
what do I play on this?
- tetris
- plateup via GameNative
- balatro via Steam Link
- Walfie's Nonograms

@nycki@critters.gay That is such a versatile setup!~ Way better than the prebuilt ARM handhelds, and way cheaper too (especially now during RAMpocalypse).~ Does it handle older and indie 3D Steam games well with GameNative?~ โ:AltairExcited:โ It's amazing how mind blowingly good AMD64/x86 to ARM translation layers gotten. ๐ปโ๐ฑ

@nycki Huh, this makes me want to try converting my old phone. Not like I'm going to be able to do much else with it now.
