There was an NPR story in 2019ish that happiness increases with income up until about 75,000 USD, which is the point where the curve falls off and further increase is marginal. People with just enough not to worry about money we're happiest while rich people were never satisfied.
They had some asshole economist they were interviewing about it and he got so mad when they brought up the study and just insisted "nuh uh nuh uh NUH UH!!""

@tristan I think of that study often, and am completely unsurprised that a rich economist would deny it's true.
