Hi Pete.
As someone who uses running watches for more than a decade now, let me give my 2 cents here.
1. Regarding GPS accuracy.
We have 2026 and I believe all of them are pretty accurate today.
If some people say Suuntos are not accurate, yes they had some issues 5-6 years ago with some models and it still sticks with them. Current models work as good as other brands.
The only thing running watches still fail today is accuracy in vertical. All of them, IMO.

@peteorrall I am not 100% sure what you mean by using Maps. I only use the feature to upload .gpx files from time to time. Budget is a topic I can relate to. My personal choices, including your (wish) list Polar Pacer Pro I use this watch for 2 years now. + Lightweight, strong battery, Polar Flow is great for analyzing your runs, small, no touchscreen and other (for me) useless features. Found it on sale for 200€ - no offline maps (but .gpx file route upload/ navigation)
