@peteorrall I am not 100% sure what you mean by using Maps. I only use the feature to upload .gpx files from time to time. Budget is a topic I can relate to. My personal choices, including your (wish) list Polar Pacer Pro I use this watch for 2 years now. + Lightweight, strong battery, Polar Flow is great for analyzing your runs, small, no touchscreen and other (for me) useless features. Found it on sale for 200€ - no offline maps (but .gpx file route upload/ navigation)

  • @peteorrall Suunto Race S all as Polar Pacer Pro, + more up to date (Firmware), better Display, stronger Battery, offline Maps, found it here in a store from 269€ If you want a bigger watch, Suunto Race or Race 2 are the ones to go, but a bit more expensive. Maybe Suunto Run is worth to have a look at. From my personal opinion, Garmin and Cronos are to expensive, and way to big. Ok, I am a small guy with tiny wrists. 😉 Hope I could help a little.
