A couple more examples. The hammock on the left has a diamond shaped tarp. These are great for their reduced weight (smaller, less material) on summer trips. And two examples of foregoing the hammock and camping on the ground. The example on the right is a pretty straightforward pitch using trekking poles to hold up the centerline. I don't even remember how I got the weird shape on the right but it worked out well.

Finally, I don't have a picture for this one but it's also possible to pitch it so the ridge line is just over the hammock and the tarp is folded in half, with all four corners on the same side for a kind of "shed roof". This is good for stargazing on warm summer nights but still keeps the dew from falling on me. I'm sure there are more applications. Having all this flexibility is one reason I love not being constrained to a single shape tent.
