This is your periodic reminder that the oil and gas in the north sea is not ours*, it was all sold off in the 80's and we even give tax breaks to the companies drilling for it. You can drill all you want, it will make 0% difference to the price at the pump but will make the energy companies billions. * unlike Norway who kept it nationalised and put profits a trust fund that as of June 2025, it had over US$1.9 trillion in assets, equal to 1.5% of the value of the world's listed companies.
