I've recently been thinking about what hype cycles #HCI as a research area has already been through. I came up with these four, in roughly chronological order (obviously, this correlates with the timespan I've been working in HCI): - Tabletop Interfaces - Mixed Reality - Autonomous Cars - Large Language Models What was the "hot shit" before that? Or is it a more recent thing for everyone to run after one topic like a bunch of lemmings? 😉
