I am starting to be able to use the Doppler radar of American political trauma to identify who, in my own life, is dysregulated to the point that they're their own form of trouble. You basically just wait 24-48 hours after Donald Trump does something shitty, and then see who in your life pops up and pops off at you in a bid to pick a fight, make demands, or do something controlling. Those are the people who cope with stress by trying to turn around and smack someone they think won't hit back. It's like volunteering for less contact, less relationship, and hard boundaries. I don't love this! Even noticing it feels snide and more bitey than I really mean, or want to be. But -- yeah, information is information, even the kind I don't love.

I am starting to be able to use the Doppler radar of AI debates to identify who, in my own life, is terrifyingly lonely and unable to ask for human help.

@leahbobet I have not personally had people do this with me, but I've seen it happen - & my wife & I discuss this (among other things) as something we need to avoid letting happen to/with us, in this environment.
