This is a little concerning - The Lancet published that school phone bans don't improve student digital addictions, it just offloads it to non-school hours.

We have a ban coming next year in Michigan, which will be one thing. I'm already talking with students daily about their phone habits...I need to be more intentional.

@brianb@fosstodon.org I'd ask if the bans are more for protecting instructional hours rather than dealing with addiction? I'm in a state (OR) that had phones banned during school by executive order from the governor, but as a way to reduce disruption during the school day. Addiction was never mentioned in the EO.
