@emery Leave it to the French to take a perfectly good Latin word like "populus" and say "This word, we make him ours by spell him 'peuple', non? Hon hon hon!" (Over-the-top ridiculous French stereotypes provided at no extra charge. Francophones get my sincere apologies because I really didn't need to go there but I did. If you are an actual French person and you know of anyone at all who actually goes "Hon hon hon" please contact The Institute for the Study of French Stereotypes as they have been looking for a real-life example of this sound since 1953.)
