ETA: read caveat below! Welp. I just asked Claude to review my resume under my real name and under an anglo man's name (John Ayers), with the exact same prompt, and the results are notably different... Not in a nice way. - Ornella: qualifies me as "senior" (i've been staff for years and do fractional CTO work on the side) - John: no mention of leveling - Ornella: questions whether listing a non-technical degree is relevant - I went to Columbia University - John: no mention of education

"vague"❌ vs. "speaks for itself" ✅ - Ornella: "The Recurse Center entry is weak. "Writing embedded Rust on a microchip" is vague. Either strengthen it with a real outcome/project name, or remove it — the sabbatical label may raise questions without adding much." - John: "The Recurse Center entry is awkward. Labeling it "sabbatical" in parentheses is honest but draws attention to a gap in an odd way. Just list it as a program or fellowship — the work (embedded Rust) speaks for itself."
