I decided 15+ years ago that life would be much easier if all my socks were identical. So I had perhaps 30 pairs of black socks.
Turns out that after two or three years of wear & washing, identical socks are no longer identical and the cognitive load involved in matching pairs of black socks is somewhat higher than if they'd all been different colours & patterns.

Honestly, finally replacing them all felt like becoming an adult. And that was happily ameliorated by the ridiculous patterns and colours of their replacements ๐

@zebulonmysterioso@mas.to I do the same but with grey socks. I periodically throw out the worn out ones and buy more so I never have this problem ๐
