@deepmud So an individual avocado flower would need both parts. I have pineapple guavas that get showy flowers but don't produce fruit. I shall have a look and see if they have both parts. Some people insist pineapple guavas are self pollinating , but others say you need a male and female. I'm going to look into it more. The shrubs are quite large. I want fruit!

    @Coho if there is pollen and a stigma (female sticky part), you can try your hand at pollination. Just take a soft brush and gently brush over the flowers. Hopefully, pollen will get onto the stigma and you'll have accomplished the necessary pollination. Just check to be sure the pollen is ready for this- it's a sticky greasy powder. Better to have the bees do it but it can happen without them.
