@coriander he was just doing his best! Something that was super interesting in this book is that before they were recording pictograms on clay tablets they were putting little representative tokens in sealed balls of clay, and when your goods arrived you’d break the ball open and see if the tokens matched the totals, such a fascinating way to keep track of this kind of thing pre-writing
