Every time Tim Ayers opens his mouth he makes it even clearer that Australia desperately needs to have a proper science minister again, instead of just a minister for "industry and stuff". His business-brained ramblings demonstrate he does not understand how science works, nor does he care.

The Australian Federal Government has rarely considered science to be important enough to merit a dedicated minister (even a junior minister). It's almost always been lumped in with either education or, more commonly, industry, as a secondary concern. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minister_for_Science#List_of_science_ministers
