The Australian Federal Government has rarely considered science to be important enough to merit a dedicated minister (even a junior minister). It's almost always been lumped in with either education or, more commonly, industry, as a secondary concern.

@spacelizard since our minister for the environment seems to approve environment destroying mining projects, perhaps it's better we don't have a science minister.
