@PeryleneBleu : also, it should go without saying, but it's better not left unsaid : if you're using an antiseptic, you dab the cotton or compress with the antiseptic, and THEN you put said cotton/compress on your skin to disinfect it. YOU DO NOT POUR THE LIQUID DIRECTLY (not to mention, it's a waste). You don't dip things into the liquid either, even if it fits into the container (or else you just compromised the disinfectant for next time, might as well throw it away now).

@PeryleneBleu (this is something that I accidentally learned a lot of people actually do ! And it is, in fact, why the antiseptic I use for my Flesh Eating Monster has a warning telling people to throw away the entire bottle after 15 days of it being open. Which I was doing religiously, until the pharmacist explained that it's because people were dipping their wounds directly in it... hence the short shelf life. But since I use compresses, she said I can keep it open for longer)

@ladyteruki yes ! Good addition. Well : for putting it directly: You can spray from a spray bottle directly on the wound, and it uses less product than putting enough on a pad. + you need to make sure you don’t put lint in the wound. If you only have like, cotton pads it’s better to spray. But in some cases you get better disinfection with a soaked compress, (obviously not putting anything in the bottle) left on a few minutes. It depends.
