@mrfoostang @relay They may have said that elsewhere — genuinely possible. What I can speak to is what was live on their pages last night when I finalized the screenshots and checked every reference. Those are linked and screenshotted. If something's changed or there's a page I missed that addresses this more clearly, I'd actually want to know. Don't even mind to make updates to the post. As is, their ToS (specifically Section 13), does not match up with the marketing.

@ppb1701@ppb.social @mrfoostang From what I glean from your post, your main sticking points are what “meaningful” means and that you see a contradiction in how they can “reject all” request from foreign governments and also comply with them. The meaningful thing was done to death in the Snowden era when the world learned what metadata is and nobody could agree on that subjective term then, nor now. Going one step further, I think around that time The US scoped expired SSL keys into “business documents” which the US government can obtain fairly painlessly, thus leaving the door open for PRISM to hoover up encrypted blobs to be later decrypted when that SSL keys expires and the government obtains the ability to decrypt it all. The informed request refusals are the _precise_ mechanism Proton uses to get _every_ such request into the court system and then they comply with that ruling. There is no contradiction there. It’s a legal mechanism to offload those decisions to the courts which is prudent because nobody knows Swiss law better than the Swiss courts. You also link quite heavily to Proton’s admission to everything you mention. I have a hard time seeing the skulduggery you’re writing about when your sources are all public docs from the company in question. Maybe you don’t like it but it’s clear as day for anyone to look at. I admit that I’ve never heard of Proton Meet, though. It’s weird that they’ve pivoted so heavily into US infra for that product. But if they disclose all that, it’s consumer choice. I appreciate the work that went into your post. I learned a lot.
