The Connecticut state senate has passed an omnibus-ish bill that includes social media regulations like a mandatory warning label (hella unconstitutional) and various privacy-invading demands. I honestly don't know whether it would apply to fedi instances or not. See section 39 here: https://www.cga.ct.gov/2026/lcoamd/pdf/2026LCO04418-R00-AMD.pdf On the legislative clusterfuckery and general lack of seriousness (they are rushing to finish business by May 6th): https://ctmirror.org/2026/04/21/artificial-intelligence-regulation-senate-ct/ Bill status here: https://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/CGABillStatus/cgabillstatus.asp?selBillType=Bill&bill_num=SB5

The Connecticut senate did a Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V on House Bill 5037, which was backed by the governor and which the state attorney general seems to have maaaaybe lied in support of. https://blacksky.community/profile/did:plc:xkyhsucgalfnrkpwwkxs5zbl/post/3mgxmyst7j227
