Reading assistant on Science direct is one of the most obnoxious ai integrations I have to deal with. Every paper I open it pops up asking if I want help reading. It's a resounding no... No I don't... And I really worry for people starting in research now that the skill of quickly digesting information is going to be entirely lost.

And I know there will be people arguing "wELl wE haVe aI noW, So I DoNt nEed to bE abLe to DO tHaT"... But reading an ai generated summary is not the same as reading and understanding the source yourself AND condensing out the relevant information. Relevant information in scientific papers is sooooo often in detail and context (both of the reader and the author)
