@timixretroplays During the initial interview I let drop a casual reference to having ADHD, the response was "well, I think most of us here have ADHD " Anyways, got hired on, and it was such a "we're a start culture, but growing up" but the've not matured enough to consciously be more... Professional. Prided themselves on having no process, flat org structure. Awfully hard to figure out by osmosis on the first week who to assign a ticket to when it's all by the hidden culture you just got introduced to. But wait, there was process. The Shadow processes of "how we've always done it" combined with "this ham fisted way we think a software house should run" and a smattering of hidden lords. You know, the people long in tooth, greatest among "equals" weeks transgressions will not be mentioned. Sure many there may have been ADHD, but don't penalize someone for high Context Switching overhead. Warn the noobs about the Shadow lords. Hand them a map of who's who. And make a formal, competent HR Dept.

  • @RyeNCode oof. Yeah, ND-tweaked workplaces need process as much as any other - people just doing what feels right to them at any given time doesn't work no matter how your brain functions 🤷‍♂️

@timixretroplays There was no Jira card status between "In progress"and "deployed to QA" Because deploying to QA involved... The PR being approved & Completed, The CI passing (probably broken by someone else for days who didn't care {see Shadow Lords in previous post})Someone publishing to staging manually (a 10-30 minute process, or longer of someone else has started it, from their dev machine, no CD, so every staging and prod deploy is from a dev's desk*) hopefully when no one has laid claim to the staging environment for client demos.and you know whom to assign the QA ticket to... And... Get a dressing down for having things in the wrong state. No training... "Smart people will figure it out right away" ... And... Much reliance on various LLMs. * it's a "bring your own device" shop, with no controls at all.
