Cool cool... just Monterey changing their existing parking permit system which has worked fine for decades using decals and is free, and now will require $25/year, an online system, and license plate readers to make work. Oh and guest passes will no longer be paper, and instead will require some online shenanigans to make happen. Why change something that works to something that is harder? I guess that means all the meter maids in Monterey will be using license plate readers rather than chalk now.
