Is it possible that the reason we have difficulty figuring each other out is that nobody actually wants to be a separate individual (due to anxiety or otherwise) and they prefer to all see themselves as part of me? It does feel like the singlet identity is a shield, and embracing individuality is scary. In other systems it seems like headmates readily identify who they are, they have an intuitive sense of their own personhood. But for us that rarely seems to be the case and everyone is just unsure of themselves. With a few notable exceptions in the past. It makes it very tricky to figure everyone out. Because even when headmates potentially front again, they don't recognise themselves or remember who they were from last time. Like there's no continuity of identity between frontings. At best they can identify that they are different from the previous fronter.
