Just been to a thing with poetry and short story readings and...I have so many friends who have self doubt about their writing and then white men get on stage and do the most mediocre bland crap. Have the confidence of a mediocre white man. Trust me, your stuff is way better.

@therivercrow@bardicperspiration.club I used to have little confidence as a software developer but then I had to do a lot of clean-up work for mediocre men who had an enormous amount of confidence in their work and who kept getting promoted even though they made a lot of things objectively worse It a certain point, imposter syndrome is no longer viable Maybe if poets spent more time fixing the poetry of mediocre men it would help then with their own confidence? 😅
