For the past year, once or twice a week, my mom tells me how she didn't sleep the night before. When I suggest she speaks to her doctor she gets furious and tells me this rarely happens and tries to tell me it happens only about once or twice a year. She lives alone still (her doctor says this is fine) but I'm thinking maybe it will be important to track her health? Anyone have experience with #Alzheimers #Dementia and how do you track this? Also, if anyone knows of any good free apps that they have already tested feel free to let me know! I can look up apps but if you have already tested this, I that would save me time and energy. Thank you so much in advance. I'm overwhelmed and alone.

@NinjaNia I like bearable for tracking health and symptoms and it’s pretty configurable so I guess you could set it up for her to be easy to handle? Or a fitness watch or something similar? I guess those could also be useful for her to call someone if she needs to

@NinjaNia Most people are excellent at appearing normal. If you're noticing poor recall of sleepless nights happening then there is very likely other failures to recall happening too. Things like Powers of Attorney, Wills and Advanced Care Directives could be prepared now - discussing and actioning these will let you get a wider sense of where her cognition is going well and where it's not. And talking about her care in old age with your mother would do the same.

@NinjaNia Suggest you contact your municipality’s Senior Services office to find out what resources are available for your mom. She may find some that are interesting and/or useful. Also, a gentle reminder to be careful about apps and privacy. This recent #NYT piece (gift post) describes some of the tech that people are using. Do be sure to read the comments, which discuss privacy and the lack of affordable elder care in the US. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/22/business/seniors-home-care-tech.html?unlocked_article_code=1.dFA.sICL.FkpmimpOvTKJ&smid=nytcore-ios-share
